    September 5, 2024 – Strengthening Stakeholder Engagement

    The Bataan ICT Development Council convened for a Stakeholders Meeting at the Magnolia Building, setting the stage for collaboration among key players in the province’s ICT landscape. Representatives from government agencies, educational institutions, and private organizations gathered to discuss the latest initiatives and upcoming events, including the Global Blockchain Congress, the NICP National ICT Summit, and the Regional ICT Summit and Exhibition.

    The meeting underscored the importance of local employment and digital infrastructure in Bataan’s economic growth. Board Member Godofredo “Bong” Galicia Jr., representing Governor Joet Garcia, reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ICT development, highlighting plans to enhance public Wi-Fi access, implement strategic digital projects, and roll out e-governance applications. Additionally, BPSU President Ruby B. Santos-Matibag reinforced the university’s role in fostering digital learning and skills development to support the province’s workforce.

    September 11, 2024 – Institutional Development and Leadership in ICT

    A few days later, the Enhanced Institutional Development Workshop took place at the Crown Royale Hotel, bringing together key stakeholders from the Bataan ICT Development Council, DICT, private organizations, and academia. This event was a testament to the province’s commitment to advancing the ICT ecosystem through digital infrastructure, workforce development, and strategic planning.

    The workshop featured insightful discussions led by Engr. Mario Antonio Aya-ay of DICT Region 3 and Mr. Bonifacio Belen, COO of KKC Inc., who provided a structured approach to strengthening ICT initiatives. Participants conducted a SWOT analysis, identifying opportunities to enhance talent development, infrastructure investment, and a thriving business environment for tech-driven industries.

    One of the most significant moments of the event was the appointment of the new BICTDC leadership team. Jeremiah Ruanes, Founder of Meraki 8, was named Vice President for Internal Affairs, joining a distinguished group of leaders dedicated to driving Bataan’s digital transformation.     January 23, 2025 – Kicking Off the Year with a Unified Vision

    As 2025 began, the Bataan ICT Development Council held its first meeting of the year at The Bunker, setting the stage for another year of progress. The meeting brought together representatives from government agencies, educational institutions, and private companies, all united in their mission to expand digital literacy, support startups, and attract IT investments to the province.

    During this event, discussions focused on refining membership policies, launching targeted training programs, and strengthening partnerships with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). Key achievements from 2024 were showcased, including Bataan’s successful hosting of the 16th NICP Summit and the city’s transformation into a Smart University Town.

    The meeting also saw the oath-taking ceremony for BICTDC’s officers and honorary members, officiated by Governor Joet Garcia. Jeremiah Ruanes, standing among the newly appointed leaders, reflected on the journey thus far.
